Respon Beberapa Galur Sorgum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] terhadap Penyakit Karat Daun (Puccinia sorghi Schw.)

ABSTRAK
Penyakit karat daun yang disebabkan jamur Puccinia sorghi merupakan salah satu kendala dalam usaha peningkatan produksi sorgum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari respon beberapa galur sorgum terhadap penyakit karat daun Puccinia sorghi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di rumah kasa Balai Penelitian Tanaman Kacang-kacangan dan Umbi-umbian (BALITKABI), Malang, mulai dari bulan September hingga Desember 2012. Penelitian disusun menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK), tiap perlakuan diulang 3 kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa enam dari 13 galur sorgum yang diuji menunjukkan gejala infeksi penyakit karat, enam galur tersebut yaitu G1, G2, G5, G7, G9 dan G11. Masa inkubasi terpendek terjadi pada galur G1 dan G9, sedangkan intensitas penyakit penyakit karat yang terendah terjadi pada galur G5 dan G11. Penyakit karat berpengaruh langsung terhadap komponen hasil tanaman sorgum. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa galur sorgum yang direkomendasikan untuk usaha pemuliaan tanaman guna meningkatkan toleransi tanaman terhadap infeksi penyakit karat adalah galur sorgum G3, G4, G6, G8, G10, G12 and G13.
